Elevating the Scene: How LatinFlow Filled the Music Void in St Andrews

By Lila Worgan

The St Andrews music scene is replete with various music events and collectives that play a diverse array of genres. However, there was a hole in the market. Latinflow stands as an essential and eagerly awaited music affair that addresses a profound need within our community and elevates our cultural resonance. With an innovative blend of reggaeton's urban flair and Latin house's intoxicating energy, one is compelled to lose themselves in the rhythmic beats and dance the night away.

The event was extremely well organized. Upon entry, there is a team of people to greet you, check tickets, stamp hands, and hand a raffle ticket for the complementary tacos. Additionally, the founder and director of the event, Pablo Berlanga Boemare, was at the door to make sure everything was running smoothly and the people on the VIP list got their wristbands and were let in. Once inside the venue, all of the television screens had a visually appealing graphic stating the event name, “Lo’s Tacos with Latinflow. Latin Lover.”

As the event Latinflow aims to celebrate Latino culture and music, they made the decisive decision to collaborate with the newly established student-run business Lo’s Tacos. It was extremely impressive how they were able to cater such a large event from the upstairs of The Rule. It was well organized as guests handed their raffle tickets in exchange for delicious tacos that myself and others thoroughly enjoyed. There was a fully organized staff who were friendly, hospitable, and worked extremely hard the entire night giving away 250 tacos. It was a lovely addition to the evening as the providence of tacos cohesively combined a showcase of Latino cuisine and the satisfaction of the common post-night-out craving for food.

The focal point of the evening was undeniably the music. The DJ stand was positioned at the rear of the venue with the lively crowd dancing all around it and extending to the far end of the bar. The curated selection of reggaeton and Latin house hits permeated the atmosphere, keeping the crowd grooving throughout the night. Each seamless song transition irresistibly drew everyone into the rhythm.

This event was extremely successful as The Rule was packed from before midnight until closing at 2am. Guests were dancing the night away, eating tacos, enjoying drinks, and having an amazing time attributed to the expertly selected music and the prowess of the skilled DJs. This was one of my favorite events that I have attended this year and I highly recommend you and your friends attend the next Latinflow event. I surely will.
